Modpack Tutorial (WIP)

(This post was last modified: 25-07-2017, 10:32 PM by Battalion HQ.)

Resources that need to be downloaded before we start:
JRE: Java Runtime Environment - Download and run both the "Windows x86" and "Windows x64"
Arma3Sync: Download - Download the one with the highest number.

  1. Create a folder somewhere outside of your Arma 3 Directory, for example, mine is as follows: Desktop > Games > Arma 3 > 539 Addons
  2. Open Arma 3 Sync. In the top left click profiles and proceed to make a new profile called "539". Once done, click profiles again and make sure "539" is ticked.
  3. Next, open the Addon Options tab, the top box labelled "Addon Search Directories" should be clear, to the right of that click the blue plus button and add the folder we made earlier (step 1)
  1. On the repository tab, to the top right click the blue plus. In the first text box under "Public auto-config URL" enter the following link and click import: --> <--
  2. If done correctly it should fill out all the text boxes with the rest of the info. If so click "OK"
  3. You should see a repository called "539 Assault Squadron" under the repository tab, if so select it and click the bottom button on the right with a white background with an arrow.
  4. It should then start to check your addons, this may take a little while. Once done, make sure the box under "Default Destination Folder" is set to the same folder you created and added to addon options.
  5. Lastly, if you have addons showing up under "repository content" proceed to tick the box "Select All", this should tick all the content for you.
  6. Simply hit the "Play" button under "Download Addons" to complete this part. Note: The mod pack is around the 20GB mark, it may take a while to download depending on your internet speed.
  1. When all your mods are downloaded, in the repository, click the green tick in the top left to double check all the mods have been downloaded.
  2. If all the add-ons have black text and a folder icon next to it, you are sorted.
  3. Next, head over to the add-ons tab and hit the mod sets button in the top right. Tick "539 Assault Squadron" and hit ok.
  4. If done correctly, tick the "539 Assault Squadron" under the addon groups section. Then hit "Start Game" in the bottom right.
Optional (Arma 3 is a high resource game, these are a few things that can help with performance):
  1. Tick "Max Memory" - Set the drop down to the biggest number
  2. Tick "CPU Count" - Set the drop down to the 8 (If your game crashes, lower by 2 each time)
  3. Tick "ExThreads" - Set the drop down to 7
  4. Tick both "No Splash Screen" and "Default World Empty"

539 Assault Squadron, (, is in no way associated with the real 539ASRM or the Royal Marines.

The 539 Assualt Squadron was founded in January 2015 and is based upon the British Royal Marines. We strive to be a realistic unit, operating properly in the field, while also aiming to have fun and create an enjoyable enviroment to shoot terrorists. We play missions against AI that are lead by the zeus which shapes dynamic, fresh and always challenging scenarios for the different sections and forces to enjoy.
